Adding companies to your directory

A subcontractor or supplier must be added to your main company directory first. Once they're in, you can assign them to any site, invite their workers to check in, and collect their inductions, SWMS and licences.

This guide walks you through adding a new company to your directory on web. In Breadcrumb, companies in your directory are called Suppliers.

Before you start

  • Permissions: you'll need Company Host or Site Host permissions. If you can't see the option to add a supplier, contact your Breadcrumb administrator.
  • Using Procore? If your account is connected to Procore, add the company in your Procore Company Directory instead. It will sync across to Breadcrumb automatically. To make it appear on a site, add it to the matching Procore Project Directory as well.

Adding a company

Step 1: Check if the company is alredy in the directory

If the company is already listed, you don't need to add it again. Complete the steps here to add it to a site.

  1. Click Suppliers in the left-hand menu. This shows every company already in your directory.
  2. Use the search bar to look up the company by name.

Step 2: Add the company details

  1. Click Add Supplier at the top of the screen.
  2. Fill in the details:
    • Supplier Name: the company name as it will appear across Breadcrumb.
    • Contact Name: the main contact at the company. This fills in automatically on onboarding emails.
    • Email: the contact's email address. Onboarding emails are sent here.
    • Phone: the contact's phone number. This fills in automatically on full onboarding emails.
  3. Click Add to save.

The company now appears in your Suppliers list and can be added to any of your sites.

Tips for a tidy directory

  • Search before you add. Duplicate companies makes it difficult for your workers to choose the right company on site, and adds additional workload to gathering information and data.
  • Use one naming style. Decide on a standarised naming convention. Keeping it clear and readable so everyone can find companies quickly.
  • Use a contact who will act on onboarding. The email/s you enter is where onboarding requests go, so choose the person who manages site paperwork, not an inbox nobody checks.

Next step: add the company to a site

Adding a company to your directory doesn't put it on a site. To do that and start onboarding, follow Assign a supplier to a site.
