Why can't I see an entity type field in my Procore?

Troubleshooting a missing field in Procore that affects how Breadcrumb data appears there.

Breadcrumb uses each company's ABN to match your Procore companies to suppliers in Breadcrumb. In Procore, the ABN is entered in the Entity Type field on the company record.

Procore does not always show this field. If you cannot see it, a Procore admin needs to switch it on in your Directory settings.

Why it matters

Without an ABN, a Procore company cannot be matched to a supplier in Breadcrumb. This can mean:

  • The company does not sync across to your Breadcrumb supplier directory
  • Workers from that company appear in Procore's Visitor Log instead of the Manpower Log
  • Their documents land in the No Supplier folder in Procore

Before you start

You need Admin permissions in Procore. If you do not have them, ask your Procore administrator.

Switch on the Entity Type field

  1. In Procore, go to Company Tools and select Admin.
  2. Under Tool Settings on the right, select Directory.
  3. In the Company section, select Edit next to the Directory Template.
  4. Find Entity Type and switch it on. It turns blue when it is on.
  5. Select Save, then Confirm.

The Entity Type field now shows on every company in your Procore Directory.

Add the ABN to a company

  1. In Procore, go to Company Tools > Directory > Companies and open the company.
  2. Find the Entity Type field and select ABN from the dropdown.
  3. Enter the company's ABN and save.

Make sure the ABN matches the one on the supplier in Breadcrumb exactly. Each ABN should only be used once in your Procore Company Directory. Two companies with the same ABN can cause the wrong one to sync.

New Zealand companies

For New Zealand companies, use the License Number field instead of Entity Type. You can enter an NZBN or any other identifier, as long as it is unique to that company and has no spaces.

After you add the ABN

Changes in Procore sync across to Breadcrumb automatically, but it can take a little while. Once the company is matched, the Procore logo shows next to the supplier in Breadcrumb.

To bring the company onto a site in Breadcrumb, also add it to the project's Directory in Procore.
