What does Breadcrumb do with my data?
A plain-language summary of how personal and site data is used and stored.
When you check in to a site, complete an induction or upload a document, you're trusting Breadcrumb with your information. Here's a plain-language summary of what we collect, who can see it and how you stay in control.
This is a summary only. Our Privacy Policy and End User Licence Agreement have the full details.
What we collect
- Your profile: your name, mobile number and email. This is what you need to create an account.
- What a site asks for: anything else, such as emergency contacts, licences and tickets, or answers to induction questions, is only collected if the company running the site asks for it.
- Your activity on site: when you check in and out, the inductions and forms you complete, and the documents you upload.
Who owns your information
- Your profile belongs to you. You can update it or delete it at any time.
- Site records belong to the company running the site. Your check-ins, inductions and forms for a site are held for that company, as they often need to keep them for safety and legal reasons.
Who can see it
- The companies whose sites you attend can see the information you give them for those sites. One company can't see what you've submitted to another.
- Breadcrumb staff only access customer information when their role needs it, for example to help with a support request.
- We never sell your information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run Breadcrumb, such as our hosting provider, or where the law requires it.
- We don't use your information to train AI. We don't put your personal information into any AI service that trains its models on it.
Your location
Depending on how a site is set up, your location may be checked when you check in or out. The site team doesn't see your exact location. They only see how close you were to the site:
- On site
- Within 50m
- Within 100m
- Within 250m
- More than 250m away
Your location isn't shared with anyone else.
Nearby site notifications are off unless you turn them on. If you do, we use your location to let you know when you're near a site, but we don't store it.
Where it's stored and how it's protected
- Information for Australian customers is held on secure Microsoft Azure servers in Australia.
- Personal information is encrypted, both while it's being sent and while it's stored.
- Documents you upload are kept in private storage that can't be accessed directly.
- Breadcrumb is ISO 27001 certified, an international standard for managing information security, and our security is regularly tested by independent experts.
Deleting your information
Delete your whole account
- In the app, open the menu in the top left.
- Scroll down and tap Account.
- Tap Delete Account and follow the prompts to confirm.
Once your account is deleted, it can't be recovered.
Delete some information but keep your account
Email support@breadcrumb.co and let us know what you'd like removed.
Information held by a site
Deleting your account removes your profile, but the companies whose sites you've attended may keep their own copies of your site records, such as check-ins and inductions. These belong to them, and they're often legally required to keep them for a set time. To ask for these to be deleted, contact the company directly.
