How do I submit a new briefing for my site (web app and mobile app)
Recording and distributing a daily prestart, toolbox talk or other on site meeting records and information.
You complete and submit the briefing, it's distributed to all workers for that site and they're prompted to read and sign it in the Breadcrumb app while it's active.
You can submit a briefing from the web app making it easy for writing up and attaching documents the night before, or from the mobile app on site.
Before you start
- Access: You need to be a Company Host or Site Host. If you don't have access, contact your Breadcrumb administrator.
-
A briefing form for your site: Your company sets up the briefing templates such as "Daily Pre-Start" or "Toolbox Talk", and adds them to your site. If you don't see the form you need, ask your administrator.
Start a new Briefing in the Web App
- Log in to the web app and go to Host.
- Open the site you want to brief.
- Select the Briefings tile (ex., Daily Pre-Start, ToolBox Meeting).
- Click Submit New Version.
- Choose how to start:
- If this is the first briefing on the site, you will only see your saved templates. The option to copy a recent briefing appears once one has been published.
- Copy a recent briefing if you want to reuse what went out last time and update it.
- Start from a saved template if you want a fresh briefing, for example your Daily Pre-Start or Toolbox Talk template.
Fill out the briefing
Complete the fields on screen. These come from your template, so they will vary, but often include the title, weather, the day's activities, whether there is any high-risk work, whether a permit is required, and any extra notes. You can also upload files such as a SWMS or a toolbox talk document.
Save as draft
Not ready to send it yet? Click Save as draft at the top of the screen at any time. Your draft appears in the Briefings tab, and you can open it later to pick up where you left off.
Publish now or schedule for later
- When the briefing is ready, click Publish or schedule at the top of the screen.
- Choose one of the following:
- Publish now to make the briefing live straight away. Workers will see it the next time they check in.
- Schedule for later to set when the briefing goes live. Enter an Active from date and time and an Active until date and time, then choose a Repeat setting: Once, Every weekday or Custom.
- Confirm to finish.
A scheduled briefing goes live automatically at the time you set and replaces the briefing that is currently active.
Edit a published briefing
Open the briefing from the Briefings tab and make your changes. The screen fills in with the published content, so you only need to update what has changed. When you are done, save it as a draft, publish it now or schedule it for later, the same as a new briefing.
Submit a new briefing in the mobile app
- Open the Breadcrumb mobile app and tap Host in the bottom right.
- Check you're on the right site. Tap Change Site if you need to switch.
- Select the Briefings tile (ex., Daily Pre-Start, ToolBox Meeting).
- Select Submit New Version.
- Fill in the required fields.
- Tap Copy from Previous Version to start from your last briefing.
- Set the Valid Until date. Workers can sign the briefing until then.
- Tap Submit.
Good to know
- One draft per site: A site can only hold one draft or scheduled briefing on web at a time. Scheduled briefings are stored as drafts, so starting a new draft replaces one that's already scheduled. A warning appears before this happens.
- Scheduling must be turned on: Schedule for later only appears if the briefing form allows scheduling. If you don't see it, ask your administrator.
- Auto-renewing briefings: Some briefings, like a daily pre-start, can renew automatically so a new version goes live when the old one expires. These show an Auto-Renew tag. Your administrator sets this up on the briefing form.
- Templates: You can use your company's existing briefing templates. To create or change a template, contact your administrator.
- Procore: If your site is connected to Procore, completed briefings can sync to Procore Documents.
