How do I review a permit application form?
Assessing and approving or rejecting a submitted permit request.
When a subcontractor applies for a permit, such as hot works or working at heights, it waits as Pending until a site host reviews it. Work covered by the permit shouldn't start until you've accepted it.
Before you start
You need to be a Company Host or Site Host with permission to approve permits. If you don't have access, contact your Breadcrumb administrator.
Find a pending permit
You can open pending permits from three places on web:
- Your site's Permits tab: Open your site from Sites in the left-hand menu, then click the Permits tab. Use the status tiles across the top to show pending permits.
- The company Permits register: Every permit across all the sites you have access to.
- Approvals: Everything waiting for review across your sites, including permits, inductions and company docs.
Review the permit
- Click the pending permit to open it.
- Click Review Now.
- Check the application. Look at the work being done, the dates and times requested, the controls the applicant has listed, and any attachments.
- Click Accept or Reject.
What happens next
- Accept: The permit changes to Open or On Hold, depending on how the permit form is set up. The applicant is notified in the app.
- Reject: The permit is finished and disappears from your approvals list. The subcontractor needs to submit a new permit application.
Good to know
- Rejecting can't be undone: A rejected permit can't be reopened or edited and resubmitted. If the application only needs a small fix, talk to the subcontractor before rejecting so they know to apply again.
- Closing permits: There's no close button on web. Permits are closed in the mobile app, so the area can be checked and photographed on site.
- Reviewing in the app: You can also review permits on site in the Breadcrumb mobile app, from the Approvals tile in the Host panel.
- Download a copy: Open any permit on web to download it as a PDF.
