How do I register plant and equipment on behalf of a worker?
Manually adding a piece of plant or equipment when a worker is unable to register it themselves.
Subcontractors normally register their own plant and equipment in the Breadcrumb app. If a worker can't do it themselves, for example they don't have the app or they've handed you the paperwork on site, you can register the plant on their company's behalf from the web portal.
Before you start
- Access: You need to be a Company Host or Site Host. If you don't have access, contact your Breadcrumb administrator.
- Web portal only: Registering plant for a subcontractor can only be done on web. In the mobile app, you can only register plant for your own company.
- Have the details ready: The plant's name, a photo if you have one, and the answers to your plant registration form, such as its condition, serial number or service records.
Register plant on a subcontractor's behalf
- Click Sites in the left-hand menu and search for your site.
- Click Site Assets.
- Click Register New Asset.
- Choose Register on behalf of a Supplier.
- Select the subcontractor's company from the dropdown.
- Enter the name of the plant or equipment and add a photo if you have one, then click Next.
- Choose the Asset Registration Form to use.
- Complete all the required fields and click Submit.
What happens next
The registration goes to Approvals for review, the same as one the subcontractor submitted themselves. Depending on your company's settings, it may be approved automatically.
Once it's submitted, only hosts can edit the registration.
Good to know
- The plant belongs to the subcontractor: The registration is recorded against the company you selected, not your own, so it shows up with the rest of that subcontractor's plant on the site.
- Encourage self-registration next time: Workers can register their own plant in the Breadcrumb app, which saves you doing it for them.
