Creating Site Briefings on the Web Portal

This article highlights the new ability to create, publish and schedule Site Briefings from the Web Portal.

The new Site Briefings update (live as of October 14th, 2026) allows Site Teams to create Site Briefing forms (e.g. Toolbox Talks or Daily Pre-Starts) directly from the Web Portal. Previously, Site Briefings could only be submitted from the Mobile App. Briefings can now be prepared at a desk, then published straight away or scheduled to go live at a later date and time.

Requirements

Permissions: View Reports and User Directory permissions are required to create Site Briefings on the Web Portal. If you do not have access, please speak to your 1BC Administrator.

Access: Only available on the NextGen Web Portal.

Site Briefing forms: Site Briefings on the Web Portal use your company’s existing Site Briefing forms. The Schedule for later option is only available if scheduling is enabled for that form.

What Has Been Updated?

Site Briefings can now be created from the Briefings tab of any Site on the Web Portal. The following options are now available.

Copy a Recent Briefing

  • Reuse a briefing that has recently been run at the Site. All of its content is filled in automatically, so only the details that have changed need to be updated.

Start From a Template

  • Create a new briefing from any of your company’s Site Briefing forms.

Publish Now or Schedule for Later

  • Publish now: The Site Briefing goes live to workers immediately and stays active until the Active until date and time.
  • Schedule for later: Choose an Active from and Active until date and time. The Site Briefing will go live automatically at the chosen time. This allows Site Teams to prepare briefings in advance, for example setting up the week’s pre-starts on a Monday.

Briefings Register

The Briefings tab shows every Site Briefing for the Site with its status (Draft, Scheduled, Active or Inactive). The Acknowledgement column shows how many expected workers have signed each briefing.

Note: Each Site can hold one draft Site Briefing at a time, and scheduled Site Briefings are stored as drafts until they go live. Saving a new draft while another briefing is scheduled will replace the scheduled briefing. A warning will appear before this happens.

Workers will continue to receive and acknowledge Site Briefings on the Mobile App, with no change to their process.

Step-By-Step

Step 1: Open the Site’s Briefings Tab

  1. Click Sites in the left menu and select the Site.
  2. Click the Briefings tab.
  3. Click New Briefing.

Step 2: Choose How to Start

  1. To reuse a recent briefing, click Copy on the briefing you want.
  2. To start from a form, click View templates and select the form you need.

Note: If the Site has no recent briefings, only the templates will be shown.

Step 3: Fill Out the Site Briefing

  1. Answer each question. Questions marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
  2. Attach any relevant files, such as a SWMS or site plan, in the upload area.
  3. To finish later, click Save as draft.
  4. When complete, click Publish or schedule.

Step 4: Publish Now

  1. Select Publish now.
  2. Check the Active until date and time. This is when the Site Briefing stops being active.
  3. Click Publish Now.

Step 5: Or Schedule for Later

  1. Select Schedule for later.
  2. Set the Active from date and time. This is when workers will first see the Site Briefing.
  3. Set the Active until date and time.
  4. Click Schedule later.

Step 6: Check the Briefings Register

A confirmation message will appear once the Site Briefing is published. The briefing will show in the Briefings register as Active, or Scheduled if it was scheduled for later.
